Under the covers,

a miracle happens,

not sleep,

not the warmth of blankets,

nor mere unconsciousness,

night’s temporary paralysis,

but a book —

Nancy Drew, super-sleuth,

opening in a small hand

whose mate holds a flashlight . . . .
