Teachers

. . . Each mentor’s mortality came to visit

and refused to leave. Old music teachers,

philosophy profs, a poet-friend,

died of cancer, dementia, flu,

a windmill of maladies that lifted them

into the air, then dropped them

unceremoniously into death.
